Our client, with mining operations in Zimbabwe, is looking for an experienced Project Management Specialist within the Mining Industry to join their team. The ideal candidate must understand the mining supply chain and have experience in support departments including HR, Security, procurement and distribution, transport, etc., This role would involve the seamless integration of services departments to optimize operations, preemptively address bottlenecks, and maintain effective communication and conflict resolution among all involved parties.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the link between production and services departments and ensure all departments are working cohesively towards production goals.
- Assist with enhancing production efficiency by ensuring supply departments are effectively contributing to the efficiency of production.
- Ensure supply departments adhere to timelines.
- Prioritize tasks to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks and then develop and implement strategies to mitigate or eliminate these bottlenecks before they impact productivity.
- Maintain regular communication with department heads and coordinators to ensure alignment with production goals.
- Implement conflict resolution strategies to address and resolve conflicts as they arise between departments to ensure smooth operations.
Main Areas of Focus
- Coordinate with equipment manager and team to ensure the timely supply and distribution of artisanal mining equipment to relevant sites.
- Coordinate with sampling team to ensure samples are collected following SOPs
- Ensure stakeholder satisfaction levels are maintained.
- Coordinate with transport service providers to maintain a reliable and efficient supply chain.
- Coordinate with the geology team to ensure surveys are conducted efficiently and accurately.
- Coordinate with security personnel to ensure adherence to protocols.
- Coordinate with project management teams to ensure alignment with overall production goals.
- Regularly update stakeholders on production and project status and address any deviation from set goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the mining industry. Experience in shared services or support services is necessary.
- Knowledge of project management software and tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong analytical skills to monitor and improve key performance areas.
