Job Vacancy: Project Officer – Promoting Education, Skills, and Enabling Environment for Ending Child Marriages (PROSE-ECM) Project
Location: Kwekwe, Zimbabwe
Contract: 1 year (renewable based on performance)
Background:
KatsweSistahood is a young women’s organization that aims to mobilize and empower young women to advocate for improved access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) education, services, and legal support. The organization is currently implementing the PROSE-ECM project, a collaborative effort with Plan International, to contribute to the reduction of teen pregnancies and child marriages in Kwekwe District.
Job Description:
The Project Officer will serve as the project lead for the implementation of the PROSE-ECM project. Reporting directly to the KatsweSistahood Program Manager, the Project Officer will be responsible for the overall management and successful delivery of the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for the implementation of the PROSE-ECM project, ensuring all components are executed effectively and on schedule
- Manage and coordinate the work of a dedicated Project Assistant, as well as collaborate with other key stakeholders, including community members, youth groups, parents/caregivers, religious leaders, and policymakers
- Lead the delivery of SRHR information and services to young people using the Pachoto methodology, which promotes community mobilization and access to SRHR and SGBV support
- Oversee the implementation of positive parenting sessions and activities targeting parents/caregivers and men/boys, fostering a nurturing environment for adolescents and youths
- Monitor and support project volunteers to ensure they have the necessary resources, information, and guidance to carry out their assigned tasks
- Spearhead the movement-building and advocacy efforts of KatsweSistahood, utilizing expertise to trigger community-led advocacy and create strategic advocacy platforms for policy reviews
- Manage the monitoring and evaluation of project activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on progress and outcomes
- Represent KatsweSistahood in meetings, workshops, and conferences with stakeholders to advocate for the project’s objectives and share updates
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the KatsweSistahood Program Manager to ensure the successful implementation of the PROSE-ECM project
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, gender studies, development studies, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects related to adolescent health, SRHR, child marriage, or gender issues
- Demonstrated experience in community mobilization, advocacy, and positive parenting approaches
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency in writtenandspoken Ndebele, Shona and English
- Commitment to promoting gender equality, youth rights, and social justice
