Background:
Katswe Sistahood is a young women’s organization that aims to mobilize and empower young women to advocate for improved access to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) education, services, and legal support.

Job Summary
The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the accounting and financial functions of the organization. This includes preparing financial reports for donors, assisting with audits, monitoring budgets and expenditures, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and donor regulations. The Finance Officer will work closely with the Finance and Administration Manager and program teams to provide financial oversight and support.

Katswe Sistahood seeks to recruit a Finance Officer who will provide accounting and financial services necessary for the continued operations of the organization. The Finance Officer will take care of all the important accounting functions of the organization ensuring that transactions are correctly captured in the most efficient manner and that day-to-day accounting is effectively and efficiently carried out to support the various programs. The post holder will ensure that projects are audit ready at all times. The Finance Officer report directly to Finance and Administration Manager. The position collaborates closely with other positions to ensure application and adherence to organisation policies and donor regulations, policies and contractual obligations

Duties and Responsibilities
The Finance Officer will be responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly and mid- year donor financial reports for submission to the donor.
• Preparing and facilitating donor verification exercises.
• Assisting in review of financial reports, backups and vouching of supporting documents.
• Assisting with the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
• Participating in the budget preparation exercises.
• Preparing and monitoring of donor monthly burn rates reports for various programs to ensure that the budget lines are not exceeded or under spent.

• Preparing bank reconciliations on a monthly basis.
• Maintain account payable accounts on a monthly basis; Updating fixed asset register.
• Assist in the preparation of management accounts and annual financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and budgetary control reports for donors.
• Assist in the development of various accountability vouchers for use in the finance office.
• Conduct correct posting of project expenditures on time, with quality into Pastel Evolution.
• Regular field visits to all project areas to verify that resources are used optimally.
• Co-ordinate and facilitate project audits.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in accounting and /or finance management
• Similar/relevant experience in accounting and finances for 3 – 5 years.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and financial software such as Agresso.
• Ability to communicate effectively, with a solid command of both spoken and written English
• Responds to requests and queries in a timely manner
• Sound planning and organisational skills, and a proven ability to meet deadlines – must be outcome driven and accountable

• Good information-sharing/ communication skills in communication with staff and partners
• Strong problem-solving skills with an eye for detail, showing initiative and working independently
• Commitment to the vision, mission, values, principles, and aims of Katswe Sistahood
• Willingness and ability to dramatically change work practices and hours and work with incoming surge teams in the event of emergencies
• Strong team player, collaborative and capable of building effective relationships across all levels
• Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
• Comply with the requirements of Katswe Sisathood’s Gender and Safeguarding Policy
• Experience in the NGO sector preferred
