RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS
- Assisting in the selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors;
- Reviewing purchase requisitions orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology and correct specifications;
- Promoting good procurement practices with due regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards and costing;
- Comparing prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers;
- Assisting in procurement of goods and services efficiently for the University;
- Coordinating procurement activities within the department;
- Sourcing quotations from service providers and placing of orders to obtain the best value for money;
- Responding to customer and suppliers’ inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations;
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation relating to procurement activities;
- Working with internal stakeholders to determine and finalising procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements; and
- Performing any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
- At least three (3) years of supply chain working experience in a reputable organisation;
- High personal and professional integrity;
- Good team player;
- Computer literacy; and
- Good report writing skills.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- A Higher/National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing and Supply Management from a reputable body;
- A professional qualification in Purchasing and Supply Management is an added advantage;
- Membership of a Professional Board is an added advantage;
- Knowledge of relevant Laws, Regulations and best practices in Procurement;
- Proficiency in Procurement software and Microsoft office suite;
- At least three (3) years of supply chain working experience in a reputable organisation;
- High personal and professional integrity;
- Good team player;
- Computer literacy; and
- Good report writing skills.
