PROCUREMENT CLERK

RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS

  • Assisting in the selection of appropriate suppliers and contractors;
  • Reviewing purchase requisitions orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology and correct specifications;
  • Promoting good procurement practices with due regard to sustainability, ethical purchasing standards and costing;
  • Comparing prices, specifications and delivery dates to determine the best bid among potential suppliers;
  • Assisting in procurement of goods and services efficiently for the University;
  • Coordinating procurement activities within the department;
  • Sourcing quotations from service providers and placing of orders to obtain the best value for money;
  • Responding to customer and suppliers’ inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations;
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation relating to procurement activities;
  • Working with internal stakeholders to determine and finalising procurement needs, quality and delivery requirements; and
  • Performing any other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Supervisor.
  • At least three (3) years of supply chain working experience in a reputable organisation;
  • High personal and professional integrity;
  • Good team player;
  • Computer literacy; and
  • Good report writing skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

  • A Higher/National Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Purchasing and Supply Management from a reputable body;
  • A professional qualification in Purchasing and Supply Management is an added advantage;
  • Membership of a Professional Board is an added advantage;
  • Knowledge of relevant Laws, Regulations and best practices in Procurement;
  • Proficiency in Procurement software and Microsoft office suite;
  • At least three (3) years of supply chain working experience in a reputable organisation;
  • High personal and professional integrity;
  • Good team player;
  • Computer literacy; and
  • Good report writing skills.
