Organization Overview:
Score Against Poverty (SCORE) is a community-based organization located in the Mwenezi District of
Zimbabwe. The organization actively works in diverse projects relating to food security, naturebased solutions, biodiversity promotion, water and sanitation, and climate change and clean energy.

Project Overview:
The Locally Led Indigenous Nature-Based Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation in
Zimbabwe (LINCZ) project represents a significant endeavour with a profound commitment
to environmental sustainability, community empowerment, and climate resilience. In the face
of escalating climate change challenges, it has become imperative to address not only the
immediate needs of communities, but also their long-term capacity to adapt and thrive
sustainably.
LINCZ emerges as a response to these pressing challenges, offering a comprehensive
approach that integrates indigenous knowledge, community participation, and nature-based
solutions. It is a testament to the project belief in the power of local communities to drive
change, nurture resilience, and protect their environment. There are different dimensions to
the project including: Policy development, promoting Indigenous Knowledge systems,
promoting nature-based solutions to climate change (such as land reclamation and
afforestation activities, conservation agriculture, drilling a borehole for better access to water,
establishing a community garden amongst many other interventions), Advocating for clean
energy technologies, promoting value chain addition (in the area of Bee keeping, Mopane
worms and Legumes) and addressing gender equality issues.
Key role and responsibilities:
1. Project Planning and Implementation:
Collaborate with the project team to develop detailed work plans, timelines, and budgets
for the implementation of nature-based solutions in Mwenezi district.
Coordinate project activities with partner organizations and community representatives to
ensure smooth execution and alignment with project objectives.
2. Community Engagement and Participation:
Foster active participation and engagement of local communities in the design and
implementation of nature-based solutions.
Facilitate community consultations, workshops, and focus group discussions to integrate
traditional knowledge in addressing climate challenges.
3. Nature-Based Solutions Development:
Work closely with community members and local experts to identify and prioritize naturebased solutions that enhance climate resilience and biodiversity conservation.
Support the implementation of nature-based interventions, such as afforestation,
sustainable agriculture practices, water conservation, and ecosystem restoration
initiatives.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation:
Establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to track the progress and impact of
nature-based solutions on climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods.
Collect and analyze data to identify challenges and opportunities, providing regular
progress reports to the project management team.
5. Capacity Building and Training:
Organize capacity-building workshops and training sessions for community members and
local stakeholders to enhance their knowledge and skills in nature-based approaches to
climate change adaptation.
6. Partnerships and Networking:
Cultivate strong working relationships with partner organizations, government agencies,
and other stakeholders to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Participate in relevant forums, conferences, and workshops to stay updated on best
practices and innovations in nature-based solutions and climate adaptation.
Qualifications
Degree in Nature-based Solutions, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risks Reduction,
Earth/Environmental Sciences or any relevant field. Masters an added advantage
Proven experience of at least 3 years in climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction,
nature-based solutions or/and any related work.
Knowledge of basic program/project development and management, or similar role.
Familiarity with working in a humanitarian environment.
Knowledge of MS Office, excel and any other reporting/data collection software’s.
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Strong Organizational skills with ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
