The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the following posts in the Innovation and Business Development Unit
INNOVATION LEAD – HEALTH AND LIFE SCIENCES (1 POST)
Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Applied Biology and Biochemistry, and any other related qualification plus Master of Science in Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, or related research or Masters equivalent. Experience in a similar role or research institution is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities will include the following:-
- Working with departments to identify potential novel innovative solutions from research projects through analysis
- Creating a culture required for innovators to experiment; with the right resources at the right level to support that experimentation.
- Working with students and their supervisors to develop prototypes from identified research projects.
- Identifying resources necessary for research, prototyping and testing,
- Leading and directing different cross-functional projects of varied sizes and types.
- Liaising with outsiders to identify potential projects for research, design and development.
- Engaging new clients seeking to develop new innovative products.
- Supporting and consulting industry partners to scout for ideas by opening up the process to search for ideas and new technologies outside NUST to open innovation.
Key Accountabilities:
- Recognize and stimulate unusual ideas with high potential impact.
- Use personal networks to link ideas and people that might not otherwise interact.
- Apply unique skills and interests to develop new opportunity domains.
- Ask tough and insightful questions.
- Provide constructive coaching and advice to innovation projects.
- Drive innovation projects through to completion.
- Ensure to exercise decision-making and independent judgment while being aligned with customers and management.
