The University seeks to recruit applicants with requisite qualifications, skills and experience for the following posts in the Innovation and Business Development Unit

Applicants must hold a BENG/BSc (Hons) Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, Production Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Civil and Water Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Construction Management, Applied Physics or any other related qualification; and an MENG/MPhil/MSc Manufacturing Systems/Engineering and Operations Management. Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Construction Project Management, Architecture, Medical Physics, Geophysics, Laser Optics, or related qualification. Applicants should have an understanding of the product development, and digital transformation experience. Experience in an innovation and/or research institution is an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities will include the following:-
- Working with departments to identify potential novel innovative solutions from research projects through analysis.
- Creating a culture required for innovators to experiment; with the right resources at the right level to support that experimentation.
- Working with students and their supervisors to develop prototypes from identified research projects.
- Identifying resources necessary for research, prototyping and testing,
- Leading and directing different cross-functional projects of varied sizes and types
- Liaising with outsiders to identify potential projects for research, design and development.
- Engaging new clients seeking to develop new innovative products
- Supporting and consulting industry partners to scout for ideas by opening up the process to search for ideas and new technologies outside NUST to open innovation.
- Working with industry and rural communities to accelerate industrialisation or re-industrialisation.
Key Skills:
- Proficiency in the use of Design Software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, CATIA, etc.
- Proficiency in Design and Drafting
- Proficiency in modelling and simulation
- A good understanding of Intellectual Property Rights
- A good understanding of Patent Search
- Proficiency in Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Mixed Reality.
