The Role:
The Foreman will be responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all work activities and resources necessary for rebuild, repair and fit local content to machines as required to OEM specification through, good housekeeping, assigned tasks, customer (internal & external) satisfaction, effective communication, team work, SHEQ, policies, work schedules, procedure & specifications.
Key Performance Areas:
The Foreman will be responsible for the allocation of tasks to Sandvik shift personnel at Unki Mine. The various skills/competences are, among other things:
- Directing and coordinating all underground and surface Workshop activities at the mine.
- Maintain a “safety first culture” amongst all team members.
- Developing vision and converts to implementing strategies.
- Responsible for the development of a yearly budget, ongoing expense tracking and cost savings initiatives.
- Lead and coach subordinates to ensure quality work.
- Over inspections of all repair work done on components.
- Closure of Jobs in Work In Progress.
- Ensuring that all maintenance work meets OEM Standards.
- Manage Sandvik Unki Workshop Projects.
- Make sure Lean processes are adhered to.
- Performance agreements, reviews and appraisals with subordinates.
- Responsible for your own development by following Sandvik’s leadership model.
Your Profile:
The Foreman is expected to have Trade Certificate of Competence in Auto Electrician, or Power Electrics. At least 8 post qualifying experience of which 3 must be at Supervisory or leadership position in a mobile equipment workshop.
- Knowledge of OHSAS 18001, Project management, Lean management and computer literacy knowledge will be an added advantage.
- Good interpersonal skills and customer focus culture.
- Good at paperwork, machine problem diagnosis and resolution techniques coupled with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience in managing performance contracts.
- Computer literate.
