Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating religious activities at the University and offering religious and spiritual guidance to students and staff;
- Giving social psycho support to students and staff as and when necessary;
- Serving families of deceased students and staff as required through follow-up and guidance;
- Participating in committees, students and staff conferences related to Chaplaincy in order to enhance the continuity and care of stakeholders;
- Establishing good working conditions will all members of the chaplaincy team as well as volunteers, keeping records as required;
- Ability to minister to students and staff;
- Any other duties as assigned by the Manager, Student Services.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Applicant must have at least a Master’s Degree in a relevant area such as Theology, Sociology, Psychology of Education, Philosophy or Religious Studies from a recognised University;
- Counselling qualification should be a pre-requisite;
- A PhD will be an added advantage;
- The incumbent must have at least four (4) years’ work experience in Pastoral care and must be ordained and recommended by his or her church;
- In addition, the candidate must be mature and of unquestionable integrity;
- Evidence of experience in guidance and counselling is a requirement and previous experience of working in a University or Educational Institution will be an added advantage; and
- The candidate should be able to use the ecumenical approach in conducting his/her duties.
