The Communication Science Department is the newest addition to the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. It houses the undergraduate Hons Bachelor of Communication Science degree. The Department runs Short Courses in Media and Communication, Media and Digital Marketing, Radio Short Story Writing, Graphics and Desktop Publishing as well as housing the British Council B2B Registration Centre Status for IELTS. Furthermore, the Department also runs a flagship of the University and Faculty: Abiyangu FM Radio Station. Qualifications and Experience 

  • Degree in Media and Journalism or its equivalent;
  • Must have a developed capacity for design and desktop publishing (Canvas,    Photoshop, etc);
  • Must be capable of Web-editing;
  • Must have technical familiarity with global systems such as IELTSTOEFL;
  • Familiarity with IT and Microsoft Office Suite and some databases are distinct advantages and
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in industry.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Managing and working with a multitasking team;
  • Developing websites and web-pages and updating them;
  • Maintenance of workflows in a busy environment;
  • Maintenance of data security;
  • Keeping abreast with organisations that are in liaison with department;
  • Providing a PR interface for the ecosystem and
  • Organising research activities and structuring seminars/workshops

Personal Attributes

  • Transparent and outgoing personality;
  • Above-board in approach to office business;
  • Capacity to redact oral texts to textual narrative script;
  • Familiarly with studio work and reportage routines;
  • Ability to take notes and perform with efficiency any assigned duties;
  • Must demonstrate good communication skills and
  • Ability to handle and multi-task difficult chores and assignments.
