ZB Financial Holdings Limited, a financial services group, is looking for a Transactions Monitoring Analyst to join our Compliance team. WHAT THE ROLE ENTAILS

Transactions Monitoring Analyst in the Compliance Department will be responsible for monitoring, analysing, and assessing financial transactions to ensure compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) and Counter-Proliferation Financing (CPF) requirements. You will play a critical role in supporting the AML-CFT-CPF compliance program by monitoring, analysing, and reporting on transactions to detect potential suspicious activities in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Review and analyse daily transaction reports generated by monitoring systems to identify unusual or suspicious activity that may indicate potential money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes.
  • Managing and clearing alerts generated in the Transactions Monitoring System (TMS).
  • Conduct thorough investigations of flagged transactions, utilizing various data sources and analytical techniques to determine whether further action is required.
  • Understanding and interpreting transaction data to pursue lines of inquiry in relation to customers, source of funds, beneficial owners, and related parties.
  • Clear articulation of due diligence findings and escalating cases as appropriate for further investigation.
  • Prepare detailed reports of findings, documenting the rationale for recommendations for suspicious activity reporting or other follow-up actions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Work closely with the AML Compliance Officer and other members of the compliance team to ensure a collaborative approach to transactions monitoring and compliance efforts.
  • Participate in ongoing review processes of transactions monitoring systems and processes to enhance detection capabilities and increase efficiency.
  • Provide support on assessment of matters related to screening of customers or payments for PEPS, Relatives/Close Associates, Adverse Media, and Third-Party Risk.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of compliance reports to senior management and regulatory authorities.
  • Identify new and emerging financial crime trends and risks the internal and national payment systems may face.
  • Partner with business when supporting the recommendation and implementation of financial crime/fraud prevention and detection measures and controls.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certifications in Anti-Money Laundering (CAMS) and IOBZ Bankers Diploma as an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in transactions monitoring, AML compliance, or a related field within a financial institution.
  • Experience in detecting ML/TF and other financial crime typologies e.g. structuring, smurfing, scams, unusual customer behaviour.
  • Knowledge of AML/CFT/CPF and funds transmission regulations and requirements at local or international level.

COMPETENCES

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and identify trends or anomalies.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role in a Financial Crime team, preferably within AML/CFT/CPF transactions monitoring, screening, intelligence analysis and/or reporting.
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills for internal and regulatory reporting.
  • Ethical and confidential approach to handling sensitive customer information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proven capability to work efficiently and autonomously, maintaining a sharp focus on detail while handling highly confidential and sensitive client information.
