Save the Children (SC) Zimbabwe (PVO 03/2002) is part of the global movement of Save the
Children International (SCI) and has been present in Zimbabwe since 1983. Today, SC delivers
humanitarian and development programs targeting the most vulnerable children and families in
Zimbabwe, through five thematic sectors: Food Security and Livelihoods (addressing child
poverty), Child Protection, Child Rights’ Governance, Education, and Health and Nutrition,
including Water Access, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).
Save the Children in partnership with the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is
implementing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) funded Systems Transformation Grant
(STG) and System Capacity Grant (SCG) project in Zimbabwe – Bulima, Gokwe North, Kariba,
Mangwe and Rushinga districts of Zimbabwe. The overarching objective of the intervention
targeting 400,000 foundational learners and 82,000 parents and caregivers in Zimbabwe is
improving community awareness on foundational learning and access to teaching and learning
materials for foundational learning.
