Research for Girls Non-Formal Intersectional Education: Identifying Disablers and Enablers of Attendance and Participation for a Non Formal education project.
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organization that strives for a just world that advances girls rights and equality for girls. Our Ambition is to see All Girls Standing Strong Creating Global Change. Working together, we will create a world where all girls know and exercise their rights and live the life they choose alongside a network of supporters, communities, staff, partners, and donors, all supporting girls and young women to stand strong as they learn, lead, decide, and thrive. Collectively we will realise a global change through breaking down the barriers and discrimination girls and young women currently face. In Zimbabwe, we have been building powerful partnerships for children, girls and young women for over 35 years. Plan International operates an equal opportunities policy and actively encourages diversity.
Plan International Zimbabwe invites bids for the services of a consultant to conduct a research titled: “Girls Non-Formal Intersectional Education: Identifying Disablers and Enablers of Attendance and Participation”.
The research aims to:
- To identify disablers by understanding factors hindering girls’ attendance (e.g., poverty, distance, disability, cultural norms).
- To improve the effectiveness of non-formal intersectional barrier driven education programmes for girls by identifying factors that influence enablers and disablers of learner’s attendance.
- To enhance Equity and Inclusion by identifying and address barriers to attendance, promoting equal access for disadvantaged girls.
- To improve program Relevance, Efficiency and Sustainability through understanding factors influencing attendance to optimize program design and implementation of non-formal education programmes.
- To inform Evidence-Based Policy through providing data-driven insights for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders
We are seeking a consulting firm or individual with a diverse skill set and expertise in evaluating education projects, particularly non-formal education. Priority will be given to those with experience working with NGOs, public sector initiatives, and knowledge of children’s rights, young women, and youth issues in Zimbabwe. The ideal candidate holds a post-graduate degree in Social Sciences or a related field, with at least 5 years of verifiable experience in qualitative research for international NGOs. To apply, please provide three recommendation letters from previous clients, including contact details, showcasing similar work experience in Zimbabwe within the last four years.
