We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity.
We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge. In Zimbabwe, we have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 31 years.
Plan International operates an equal opportunities policy and actively encourages diversity.
Project Background
The Safe and Inclusive Learning Environments for Girls at Kadanya and Donsa Secondary Schools (Education Project), is a three-year project that is being implemented in Kwekwe District in 2 wards of Zhombe (ward 17) and Silobela (ward 29) which are most affected with school drop outs and girls in particular, largely due to long distances to access secondary education and inadequate school infrastructure. Direct beneficiaries will be adolescents aged between 13 -18 years as they are set to benefit from classroom and Sustainable and Affordable Boarding Facility (SABF) construction and trainings on positive nurturing, child protection and Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE). School heads and teachers will be key in both positive nurturing and CSE trainings to improve the learning environment which will motivate girls to attend school regularly. The SDCs and caregivers will be targeted in ensuring that schools are safe and child friendly as well as ensuring the maintenance of physical school infrastructure. Caregivers are essential actors in the achievement of transformative change in education programming.
The project activities will involve both direct and indirect beneficiaries through various activities that have been included in the preceding sections. The overall objective of the project is to improve adolescent girls’ access to inclusive and equitable quality secondary education through infrastructural development and promoting a safe and supportive learning environment at Kadanya and Donsa secondary schools.
