About
Zimbabwe Health Interventions (ZHI) is a not-for-profit human development organisation which is registered as a Trust under the Zimbabwe Deeds Registries Act (Chapter 20:05). ZHI’s mission is to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable high impact integrated health interventions with local communities while working with and strengthening existing institutions.
The Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe women (DREAMS) Program aims to prevent new HIV infections and reduce vulnerability among OVC, OVC caregivers and Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) in Zimbabwe. The DREAMS program is being implemented in priority high HIV burden districts in Zimbabwe. ZHI’s primary role is to deliver a comprehensive curriculum on HIV prevention, gender norms and social asset building targeted at AGYW in school, out of school and their sexual partners at community level. ZHI’s core thrust in the DREAMS Program is to keep girls and young women HIV Free through supporting them to; Stay in school; Prevent early pregnancies; Prevent sexual violence; Access Post violence care; Reduce child marriage. DREAMS provides a comprehensive, multi-sectoral package of core interventions to address key factors that make girls and young women particularly vulnerable to HIV. These include structural factors, such as gender-based violence, exclusion from economic opportunities, and a lack of access to secondary school. DREAMS layers multiple interventions at once so that AGYW are surrounded with critical support to keep them safe from HIV and other risks.

Basic Function
The Technical Officer-Positive Parenting will provide technical guidance for the project on positive parenting. He/she will lead in capacity strengthening of partners and staff on positive parenting, evidence-based curricula, and approaches, ensuring multi-sectoral roll-out at community level. The TO will promote gender-transformative, positive parent/child relationships (especially for OVC and adolescents) and will lead the roll-out of positive parenting curricula for different ages. The TO leads IPs capacity building efforts in positive parenting, in line with PEPFAR’s localization agenda that seeks to ensure that local partner has adequate capacity to implement PEPFAR funded projects. S/he will have management oversight of assigned number of IPs as well as district staff directly implementing parenting programs

Job Description
Design, manage and implement all Positive Parenting strategies throughout relevant project cycles – project design, start-up, implementation, to ensure efficient and effective implementation in line with DREAMS-RISE program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices; Support the development of evidence based and behavior centered Positive Parenting interventions tools and materials; Organize and facilitate training of trainers (TOTs) for partner staff and ZHI staff on evidence-based parenting curricula that have been contextually adapted which may be introduced within family clubs or other platforms; Ensure project team and partner staff use the appropriate systems and tools; Help identify, assess and strengthen partnerships relevant to DREAMS-RISE, applying appropriate partnership concepts, tools and approaches; Ensure that partner staff have the knowledge and skills to successfully deliver positive parenting curricula; Play a role in monitoring behaviour change and household dynamics resulting from the new parenting approaches; Perform various activities in support of project design and implementation, including but not limited to needs assessment, strategic planning and program design; Prepare presentations and coordinate project communication needs through writing and editing communication resources, such as case studies, brochures, briefs, peer-reviewed articles or reports, for both internal and external audiences; Monitor spending on assigned positive parenting activities through the project cycle, in line with DREAMS-RISE program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices. Support the development of training materials and staff training on Positive Parenting interventions; Support the profiling, recruitment, and training of Sinovuyo Facilitators; Conduct TOT for staff and competent Sinovuyo facilitator, assess and certify trainers using the evidence based Sinovuyo Curriculum.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and time management skills, good analytical skills; Initiative in learning and self-development; Respectful, willing to cooperate with and support partners and appreciation of community dynamics.

Qualifications And Experience
Bachelor of Social Sciences (social work, development studies) public health or any related field; At least 3-5 progressive years of experience as a development practitioner with a reputable NGO; Must be a certified Sinovuyo Master trainer; Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based and promising behavioral and structural HIV prevention interventions, best practices in community health interventions, and linkage to services and approaches to addressing gender issues relating to HIV prevention; Hands on experience managing a large complex Project at national level; Ability to provide Project, financial, M & E and operational oversight.to partners; Demonstrated experience in training and facilitation including ability to design training programs; Experience in collaboration with other stakeholders as well as Partnership management.
