SYSTEMS ENGINEER – SECURITY
Equals Solutions is a FinTech company that provides digital consumer credit management solutions to
institutions. The company offers a comprehensive set of automated, insight-driven services to help
financial institutions achieve the digital transformation of the consumer credit management journey.

Security post.

The Job
Reporting to the Manager – Platforms and Security, the successful candidate will among other things
be responsible for:
The technical implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement of the organization’s security
posture across applications, networks, and infrastructure. The role requires deep technical
understanding of cybersecurity threats, including cyberattacks, malware, and adversarial behaviours,
to proactively protect systems and respond to vulnerabilities. The incumbent must apply secure coding
practices and leverage programming and scripting languages such as Java and JavaScript to support
system hardening, automation, and threat mitigation efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities

Security Assessments and Penetration Testing
• Perform manual and automated security assessments using tools such as HTTP proxies, curl
scripts, fuzzers, and both commercial and open-source platforms.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration tests, producing detailed reports with
recommended remediation action plans.

Secure Software Development and Testing
• Develop and promote secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles, including best
practices, training materials, secure coding checklists, and reusable code.
• Perform web application security testing throughout the development lifecycle to identify and
address vulnerabilities early.

DevSecOps and Engineering Support
• Collaborate with development and platform engineering teams to integrate security into
DevOps processes, ensuring secure deployment pipelines and automated controls.
• Perform security quality assurance on software releases and recommend the issuance of
security certificates.

System and Code Analysis
• Analyze system services to identify vulnerabilities in application code, networks, and
configurations that may expose the organization to risk.

Infrastructure Security and Hardening
• Work closely with infrastructure teams to implement approved security solutions and ensure
systems are hardened through proper configuration and patching.
• Implement security controls for new systems, platforms, and product deployments.

Governance and Compliance
• Support the implementation and maintenance of security systems in line with governance and
industry standards such as ISO27001:2022.
• Ensure continuous compliance and security readiness across systems.

Incident Response
• Co-lead cybersecurity incident response efforts, participating in investigations and mitigation
activities to contain and resolve threats.

The Person
The ideal applicant should possess the following minimum qualifications and attributes:
• BTech. Honors Degree in Information Security and Assurance or a related equivalent qualification.
• Any two of the following technical certifications CEH Practical, Offensive Security Certified
Professional (OSCP), Offensive Security Certified Expert (OSCE), Web Application Penetration
Tester Extreme (eWAPT) or any other relevant certification.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Technical knowledge of OWASP Top 10 range of security tests for web applications and APIs.
• Knowledge of programming and scripting languages.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
