Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) a subsidiary of ZESA HOLDINGS is the leading generator of electrical energy in Zimbabwe and supplies the bulk of the nation’s electrical power requirements from Its five power stations. The company is inviting suitably qualified, motivated and experienced staff to fill the above vacancy that has arisen in Zimbabwe Power Company.
This is a senior position reporting to the Managing Director of the Zimbabwe Power Company. The key challenge in this position is to ensure that the Company wide procurement and contract management system operates efficiently and effectively. The incumbent will be responsible for the fc flowing main key performance areas among other duties:
DUTIES
Ensures that all Power- Stations maintain an approved suppliers list and the suppliers have been correctly vetted for performance.
Cultivates long t’.rsn relationships with suppliers and flags for any need to change
Participates in tariff negotiations with suppliers of key inputs e.g. coal, to ensure the competitiveness of prices.
Plans for the procurement and delivery of strategic spares and stores for all Power Stations and monitors their utilisation.
Keeps in close contact with Original Equipment Manufacturers and ensures adequate steps are taken to prevent the removal from suppliers’ production line of strategic spares.
Ensures that all customs clearance paperwork and liaison is carried out expeditiously so that items are delivered in time.
Co-ordinates with Power Stations in researching for import substitution or alternative designs for strategic spares. Liaises with contractor and consultants regarding their administrative requirements.
Monitors through liaison with the Power Station General Managers that the Procurement systems are efficient, effective, transparent and competitive
Reviews and updates procurement policy and procedures regularly.
Defines performance requirements and standards for the department.
Executes all activities in line with Integrated Management System requirements (ISO 9001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 14001:2015).
Compliance to Statutory requirements as they relate to Procurement.
Ensures value for money for goods/services procured.
REQUIREMENTS
5 0′ levels including Mathematics and English.
A Degree in Purchasing and Supply or equivalent
A Post Graduate qualification such as an MB1.1 MBA or equivalent
Full membership of a recognized professional Institution
