Start Network Crisis Financing Country Advisor
Location: Harare, Zimbabwe
Annually Renewable Contract

Are you passionate about locally-led humanitarian action and early crisis response? Join our team as the Start Network Crisis Financing Country Advisor, where you’ll play a central role in advancing disaster risk financing (DRF) and anticipatory action in Zimbabwe.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

Success in this role means delivering coordinated, timely, and principled crisis financing solutions. You will guide Start Network members in raising alerts, activating Start Fund and Start Ready financing, and strengthening preparedness. You’ll also foster collaboration across NGOs, government, and other key stakeholders while contributing to evidence generation and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate DRF activities, workplans, and reporting aligned to Start Network standards.
  • Support members in planning and implementing early action activities, including Start Ready and ARC Replica triggers.
  • Engage with stakeholders—NGOs, civil society, government, and donors—to ensure inclusive programme implementation.
  • Provide technical advice on contingency planning, forecast monitoring, and timely fund activation.
  • Drive MEAL, research, and learning components and support donor reporting.
  • Build awareness of anticipatory action and represent Start Network in relevant platforms across Zimbabwe.
  • Strengthen local member capacity through training, partnerships, and shared learning.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Disaster Management, International Development, or related field (experience may substitute).
  • 5+ years of experience in programme coordination or humanitarian project management, preferably in Zimbabwe.
  • Strong experience in stakeholder engagement, reporting, and MEAL.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and virtual collaboration tools.
