DUTIES
Incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the shipping department. They ensure that all shipments leave on time and arrive safely, while also managing the flow of goods into and out of the warehouse.
Ensuring that all shipping materials are available, including boxes, labels, packing materials, and postage meters
Training staff on proper shipping techniques and safety procedures
Scheduling shipments, verifying they are ready to go, and making sure they are shipped on time
Coordinating with other departments within the company to ensure that shipments meet legal requirements
Tracking package status throughout the shipping process to ensure that it arrives at its destination on time
Communicating with customers to ensure that they are satisfied with the shipping services provided by the company
Maintaining inventory of shipping supplies, such as boxes and labels, to ensure that items are always available for use
Coordinating with contactors and other outside parties to ensure that shipments are delivered on time
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shipping area organized, and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Investigate and resolve discrepancies on invoices and packing slips
Schedule and assign employees to specific tasks
Train new employees on company policies and procedures
Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed
Handle customer complaints and escalate to management as necessary
Prepare and submit reports on daily activities and metrics
Manage inventory of shipping supplies and place orders when necessary
Negotiate rates with shipping vendors and select the most cost-effective option
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management
3 years experience in a management level position
Hands on experience with SAP
An analytic mind and good numeracy skills.
Excellent financial acumen.
Extensive in FMCG a plus
