Job Summary
As SHEQ Officer, you will be responsible for promoting continuous improvement in an area of expertise within Environment, Health, and Safety to improve performance and/or develop EHS as a business advantage. To provide advisory service regarding the management of all Safety activities, to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees in the Mine.
In this position you will report to the Maintenance Manager, and the position is based in Unki, Shurugwi.
Main Responsibilities:
Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all team interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
Identify specific risks within working area and adhere to discipline-specific plans/system to avoid these risks.
Maintain ISO 45001, ISO14001 and ISO 9001 standards.
Regularly communicate progress on safety targets and objectives via a design communication, supervisory and management forum to all concerned
Ensure the development of a healthy spirit of co-operation and commitment regarding Safety within the organization.
Identify critical safety priorities that would require attention.
Monitor the operational process to identify any possible problems, hazards or risk areas to the organization and schedule remedy actions.
Encourage co-operation and teamwork between maintenance and production personnel regarding safety matters.
Conduct fact finding investigations into any form of accident, injury and incident in order to develop practices to pro-actively counter any future incidences.
Develop detailed reports regarding safety trends within Unki Mine at the required frequencies.
Accompany managers on their regular inspections to support and assist them with building an appreciation for safety as a general management responsibility.
Develop the required safety forums and methods to suitably address safety amongst all employees.
Ensure implementation of The Sandvik Way within area of responsibility.
Your Profile:
We are looking for someone with a degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environment Management Systems coupled with a professional qualification such as SHATCO / OSHEMAC or any relevant program from a recognized certified institution.
Minimum of 3 years working experience in safety.
SHEQ experience in a lead or project management role is desirable.
Practical experience in development and implementation of ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001
Experience in both underground and surface mining operations will be a distinct advantage.
Full physical & medical certificate to work in mining environment is a pre-requisite.
Computer literate.
