VACANCY NOTICE-SENIOR SHE OFFICER
(4-month project)
DESCRIPTION
Strategic Roles:
- Implements and maintains SHE management systems applicable to all projects handled.
- Develop and implement SHE policies, procedures, and standards.
- Communicate SHE information to employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement
- Set SHE objectives, targets, and performance indicators.
- Lead and manage SHE teams, providing guidance and support.
- Develop and distribute SHE reports and newsletters.
Operational Roles:
- Monitor and report on d report on SHE performance metrics (eg incident rates, audits).
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and complaints
- Conduct regular site inspections and compliance checks.
- Develop and deliver SHE training programs.
- Manage SHE documentation and records.
Compliance and Regulatory Roles:
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and external agencies
- Conduct regulatory audits a sand gap analyses
- Develop and implement corrective actions
Technical Roles:
- Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments
- Develop and implement control measures.
- Monitor and review SHE management systems,
- Advise on SHE implications of new projects or projects or processes
- Develop a and implement emergency response plans.
- Conduct occupational health surveillance.
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field MSc in Occupational Health and Safety is an added advantage
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in SHE roles.
- Proven track record of implementing and managing SHE systems

Risk assessments and audits
Incident investigation and reporting
Policy development and implementation
Training and awareness programs
Compilance with regulatory requirements - Industry-specific experience in power plants, mechanical engineering and mining
Essential Specialist Skills/Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of international SHE standards and best practices
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct audits and risk assessments Familiarity with SHE software and management systems
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and implement SHE policies and procedures
