VACANCY: SENIOR RANGER: GRADE 7 x 2
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced, self-motivated and task oriented
individuals to fill the above position that have arisen within the Housing and Community Services
Department
THE PERSON SPECIFICATION
- 5 O Level passes including English and Mathematics
- Applicant must have 3 years’ experience in a similar environment.
- Results oriented and high degree of integrity.
- Knowledge of local authority will be an added advantage.
- Age between 30 and 40
- A certificate in Ranger Training Certificate or equivalent will be an added advantage
- Knowledge on Environment Issues
- Physically fit and healthy and able to walk and sleep comfortably in the bush
KEY RESULT AREAS
The person in this position will report to the Conservation/Agricultural Officer II and will
have the following responsibilities:
- Monitor illegal activities related to the environment.
- Conduct day and night patrols.
- Deploy patrol teams to address issues like stream-bank cultivation, illegal tree cutting, etc.
- Issue fines to offenders.
- Lead or participate in community awareness programs on topics like climate change,
environmental conservation, urban agriculture, and alternative farming methods. - Collect data during field patrols and other management activities.
- Gather information on illegal activities for strategic planning purposes.
- Supervise subordinates within the designated area of jurisdiction.
