This position will support a donor-funded governance, civil society and accountability programme in Zimbabwe designed to empower Zimbabweans to:
· Obtain the basic documentation necessary to benefit from humanitarian assistance, access education and economic opportunities and to vote.
· Be more active and effective in holding authorities to account for the use of resources, including on their climate change and nature commitments
· Participate in democratic processes, including promoting media freedoms and credible elections.
· Influence shifts in laws, policies and organisational practices enhance gender equality and the rights of women and girls.
· Benefit from a strong civil society able to constructively influence law-making, policy formulation and implementation.
As the Safeguarding Lead, your role will be both cross-cutting and targeted. You will be the technical lead for ZIMACE’s Safeguarding elements and be required to build and implement safeguarding processes structures, and learning throughout the programme. Main duties will include technical leadership, support and management of the integrated safeguarding policy, plan, processes and platforms across the ZIMACE Programme, in collaboration with consortium members.
REQUIREMENTS
Contextual understanding of safeguarding in Zimbabwe is required.
At least 10 years of relevant experience
Experience with client protection from abuse and exploitation, sexual violence in development and humanitarian contexts
Knowledge of international protection frameworks and mechanisms on safeguarding
Experience in conducting training, orientation and refresher sessions with diverse teams.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated strategic thinking and rigorous analytical skills
A demonstrable commitment to human rights and social justice
A strong team player and excellent interpersonal skills
Fluency in written and spoken English
Ability to travel within Zimbabwe and the region as may be needed
