Prepares the dialysis machine, sets dialysis parameters and connects patients to allocated machines (average of 25 patients daily).
Measures vital signs and records patient treatment progress on the dialysis flow chart and report abnormalities to the Nurse in Charge.
Takes orders and carries out procedures as per instruction during Doctor’s rounds.
Orders daily dialysis consumables from Stores to ensure stocks availability.
Provides 24 hr on-call coverage for the Clinic.
Maintains up to date Clinic records (such as patients, Doctors and sample results).
Researches and presents on Nursing issues monthly in Continuous Professional Development sessions to maintain professional competence and renewal of practicing certificates.
Resolves and escalates client’s complaints and queries to the Nurse in Charge.
Maintains a clean environment by damp dusting in the ward and routine surface disinfection daily.
Disposes used dialysis waste as per health, environmental and safety standards
Utilizes all aspects of sterile techniques when carrying out procedures to prevent cross infection.
Adheres to the use of protective clothing when performing procedures to safeguard the safety of both self and patient.
Provides health education to patients and significant others on disease condition, diet, education and adherence to haemodialysis schedule.
Counsels’ patients on both health and psychosocial issues as per patient need.
Education And Qualificatipons
Diploma in Nursing.
Post Basic Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing / Renal / Nephrology.
3 Years’ experience as a Renal Nurse.
