Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

Registered General Nurses
Diploma in Registered General Nursing or BSc in Nursing Science.
2 years experience.
Current Practising Certificate.

Intensive Care Nurses
Diploma in Intensive and Coronary Care Nursing
4 years’ experience.
Diploma in Nursing Administration an added advantage.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support training an added advantage.

Midwife
Diploma in Midwifery.
4 years’ experience.
Diploma in Nursing Administration an added advantage.

The Role
Charges drugs and sundries.
Admits and discharges patients.
Cares for nursing equipment according to recommendations.
Assists doctors’ procedures e.g. lumbar puncture, CVC insertion,
Administers prescribed medication following the 10 Rs of drug administration.
Provides health education to patients on disease conditions and treatment modalities.
Complies with organizational policies and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), and ethical standards.

Assesses and identifies hazards and potential risks the plans appropriate care of patients including triaging of patients.
Renders and promotes cost-effective & safe quality patient care in accordance with doctors orders,
hospital standards and policies.
Carries out nursing care procedures e.g. dressing wounds, cannulation, ECG, traction application, etc.
Facilitates ordering of prescribed medications and sundries.
