Quality Assurance Officer (5 Posts)
The Quality Assurance Officer reports to the Quality Assurance Director and will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing academic standards, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, and driving continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and administrative processes. The incumbent shall collaborate with various stakeholders to monitor and evaluate quality assurance frameworks and support accreditation processes to improve all quality matters in the academic and support sectors of the University.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have at least:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in STEM Education fields, Social Sciences or Library and Information systems and related fields;
- A Master’s degree in a related field would be an added advantage;
- At least five (5) years post-degree qualification working experience in an administrative position;
- Relevant experience in higher education would be an added advantage;
- Strong understanding of assessment methodologies and quality improvement processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Academic Programmes and Accreditation: Coordinating with faculties on programme development; tracking regulations and ensuring compliance; verifying proposed programs’ adherence to MBKs and conformity to the ZIMCHE template; implementing appropriate QA practices (policies, systems, strategies, and procedures) to enhance teaching and learning, and updating regulations as needed;
- Assessment, Monitoring, and Evaluation: Participating in program and institutional audits, administering BUSE examination observation protocols, developing assessment instruments, monitoring teaching and learning by conducting faculty and departmental operational spot checks, evaluating examination script marking, and engaging with faculty and departments;
- Teaching and Learning: Monitoring and evaluating the quality of academic programs; coordinating periodic review and accreditation of academic programs by ZIMCHE; developing quality standards; coordinating in the development of QA short courses;
- Data and Information Management: Developing data collection instruments; conducting surveys, capturing data on examination evaluation, managing quality assurance databases, creating databases; updating files; generating reports, updating the QA department website; managing the BUSE Quality Assurance Management System (QAMS); investigate quality assurance issues raised by faculties/departments; analysing peer and student evaluation data; conducting academic research, publishing articles;
- Development of QA Competencies: Providing logistical support for external assessments, organising training schedules, developing training programs, distributing training materials, and developing and conducting QA awareness campaigns;
- Networking, Collaborations, and Benchmarking: Benchmarking locally, regionally, and internationally to enhance QA processes and procedures, contributing to the development of draft Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), contracts, and agreements;
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicating quality assurance issues to stakeholders; conducting satisfaction surveys; representing the QA Department in various committee meetings; participating in students and parents/guardians orientation, conducting consultative meetings with stakeholders; participating in national, provincial and university organised events;
- Administrative: Participating in quality assurance audits, minuting ZIMCHE assessments of physical resources and facilities, developing agendas for meetings, developing workshop programmes, writing memos and minutes, circulating QA documents, attending Faculty Board meetings, proofreading documents, and organising workshops, conferences, and seminars;
- Any other duties related to quality assurance business may be assigned from time to time by the Quality Assurance Director.

- Digital Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of data analysis tools; familiarity with online assessment tools; awareness of emerging technologies; ability to navigate and utilise digital platforms.
- Innovativeness: Problem-solving, research-oriented; ability to identify innovative ways for QA enhancement.
- Knowledge mastery: Accreditation standards and regulatory frameworks; report writing; understanding of ZIMCHE and its operations; educational assessment and evaluation methodologies; ability to interpret data and generate recommendations.
