PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Bantwana Zimbabwe seeks an experienced candidate for the role of Programs Director for an anticipated CDC-funded project to reduce new HIV infections among Adolescent Girls and Young women AGYW) in Matabeleland North. BZ is a leader in the development of high-quality, comprehensive service delivery for children and Young people in high HIV prevalence districts in Zimbabwe.
BZ brings a track record of excellence and innovation in improving access to and quality of integrated OVC and DREAMS programming for HIV and GBV prevention and response services, education support, social and child protection, and robust economic strengthening programs for youth and caregivers. The Programs Director will provide overall technical, clinical, and management leadership and oversight to ensure the project meets key objectives and outcomes, in line with PEPFAR and CDC technical requirements, and adhering to the highest ethical and program quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide overall technical, clinical and management leadership and financial oversight including managing partner relations and ensuring technical and management excellence.
• Ensure all programming aligns with U.S. PEPFAR technical guidance for DREAMS and related clinical services.
• Liaise closely with the Government of Zimbabwe and relevant ministries to promote integrated service delivery and multi-sectoral collaboration among ministries and engage the private sector and community stakeholders in sustaining gains of the DREAMS program.
• Work with and build the capacity of consortium partners providing health/clinical, social protection, education, and economic strengthening services to AGYW and their families.
• Oversee Project Performance Management and Evaluation, to ensure project is meeting targets in a timely way, as measured and informed by high-quality data management and review processes.
• Represent the project to CDC, the Government of Zimbabwe, and other key stakeholders.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
● Medical or Masters’ Degree or higher in public health, epidemiology, and infectious disease with specialization in the field of HIV prevention, care and treatment, particularly HIV biomedical prevention and adolescent sexual and reproductive health services including post violence clinical care.
● 10+ years of experience designing, implementing and managing large-scale HIV prevention and treatment projects involving multiple partners, preferably in Zimbabwe, including at least 5 years in a senior management role.
● Experience with AGYW programming in HIV, gender-based violence prevention and response, adolescent-friendly health services, education, and economic strengthening.
● Excellent leadership qualities, interpersonal communication skills, and management capabilities, with demonstrated credibility as a Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, or Program Lead, on USG-funded programs, preferably CDC.
● Capacity building, systems strengthening, quality improvement and mentorship approaches.
● Experience interacting with government agencies, officials, and international donor agency representatives.
● Excellent English writing and oral presentation skills; Shona or Ndebele proficiency a plus
