Reporting to the HOD, the main duties and responsibilities of Lecturer will be that of teaching, conducting solution-oriented research that will lead to transformative policy changes and innovation in the field of Media and Journalism in line with Education 5.0.

Desired Attributes:

  • PhD Broadcast Journalism (Radio and Television Production) or its equivalent.
  • Master’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism (Radio and Television Production) or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism (Radio and Television Production) or its equivalent.
  • Academic authority (teaching and research) in Radio and Television Production
  • Strong record of relevant teaching, research and publications in reputable peer reviewed journals.
  • Demonstrable competencies in innovation and industrialisation that are in sync with Education 5.0
  • Track record of income generating projects and resource mobilisation

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver teaching material for various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Broadcast Journalism and related courses.
  • Active engagement in high-quality research; implementing new developments in Broadcast Journalism; Setting up original theoretical and practical research or key technologies in Radio and Television production and  enhancing international academic influence.
  • Innovative teaching and student assessment for taught courses.
  • Impactful research and innovation in the area of Radio and Television Production. Supervision of research projects and dissertations for undergraduate in Radio and Television Production.
  • Developing and implementing community engagement projects and community service
  • Advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Administrative tasks related to teaching and learning
  • Teamwork in the development of new modules, programmes in line with the Higher Education Qualification Framework structures (ZIMCHE).
  • Commitment to maintenance of high standards of ethical behaviour.

Please note that the duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:a) Teaching-The incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance with the Department and or College guidelines and standards.b)University Service and Community Engagement– The incumbent should participate in all Department, College and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.c) Research-The incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits the students, the Global community and the University.d) Innovation-Innovations should lead to the production of goods and services.e) Industrialisation– Through the commercialisation of goods and services.
