A leading company operating in the food processing industry and majoring in the production of high end quality products such as cereal, oats, biscuits and honey, is looking for a competent and experienced individual to join the team. Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Procurement Officer to join our growing food manufacturing company. You will play a key role in securing the timely and cost-effective acquisition of high-quality ingredients, packaging materials, and other goods and services required for production. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring adherence to company procurement policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Understand, analyze and evaluate procurement requirements for products andnegotiating with suppliers
Analyze pricing, quality specifications, delivery terms, and supplier capabilitiestomake informed purchasing decisions. Source and negotiate contracts with vendors, ensuring they meet our quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Ability to create and maintain good supplier relationship. Forecast material needs in collaboration with production, inventory and financetoensure a consistent supply chain. Monitor market trends and commodity prices to identify cost-saving opportunitiesand mitigate supply chain risks. Manage the procurement budget and track expenditures to ensure adherencetofinancial targets. Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company procedures. Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, including contracts, pricingdata, and supplier performance. Collaborate with internal departments such as Quality Assurance, Production, inventory and Finance to ensure alignment and smooth operation. Stay up-to-date on industry best practices in procurement and food safety
regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in procurement, sourcing or supply chainideallywithin the food manufacturing industry.
Strong understanding of procurement principles, negotiation techniques, andcontract management.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience in managing supplier relationships and fostering collaboration.
Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (a plus).
