Caritas Zimbabwe Profile

Caritas Zimbabwe is the development arm of the Catholic Church established by the Catholic bishops in 1972 as Catholic Development Commission, CADEC as it was popularly known in the dioceses across the country. Caritas is a Latin word that means Love. The organisation is a member of the Caritas Internationalis, a federation of the Catholic Church Development Organisation in 160 countries. The organisation is headquartered at the Zimbabwe Catholic Bishop’s Conference (ZCBC) secretariat at the Synod House in Harare and eight (8) Sub Offices found in each diocese in the country known as the Diocesan Offices. Caritas contributes to the Caritas Internationalis mission of “Towards a Civilisation of Love” and a Vision of “A sign of God’s Love for Humanity in Jesus Christ”.

Thematic Areas for Impact for Caritas Zimbabwe are as follows: Emergency Response and Humanitarian Assistance, Gender and Protection, Disaster Risk Reduction, Food and Livelihoods Security (DRR & FSL) and Water, Sanitation and Health (WASH). Different Diocesan Offices have varied strengths for different thematic areas influenced by their local context as Caritas is a grassroot organisation.

Position Summary

Assisting the National Coordinator in collecting and collating information for resource development for Caritas National Office.
Attending strategic meetings with the National Coordinator on resource mobilisation and development at a national level.
Liasing with the Diocesan Offices for information to aid in proposal development.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree in Development studies, Disaster Management.
Business Development and any other related field.
At least 1 year of experience in community work, proposal development, Humanitarian Assistance Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and presentation techniques. Essential computer literacy and capacity to work with MS Office applications.
