Responsibilities
Assisting patients who want to buy over the counter medication for common conditions and sundries in the form of giving them advice under the supervision of the pharmacist or referring them to the appropriate health professional.
Providing patients with both over the counter and dispensary medication price quotations.
Receiving receipted prescriptions and packing medication as per dispensing label.
Advising patients on use of medication as stated on the dispensed label under the supervision of the pharmacist.
Receiving prescriptions for quotations and placing them in the in basket for dispensing, collecting prescriptions from the out basket with price quotations and informing the patient.
Issue out medicines and sundries on record to the nursing department under supervision of the pharmacist.
Assist the pharmacist in placing orders for medication as instructed.
Record keeping of out of stock drugs
Receive medication consignments from suppliers or other branches verifying if the invoice states the delivered medication also verifying expiry dates.
Remove expired drugs from the shelf under the supervision of the pharmacist
Filing prescriptions, invoices and important documents and safe keeping the records.
Temperature recording and maintaining of the refrigerator for drugs that require temperature control
Participating in end of month pharmacy stock take by counting drugs and sundries and capturing the numbers.
Packing of new stock on shelves in order of expiry dates with the ones expiring earliest being placed at the front on the shelf. Packing medication on shelves according to the pharmacist’s instruction.
Making prepacks of over the counter drugs.
Other duties
Damp dusting of working area for every morning.
Cleaning of shelves and surface areas and dusting of packaged medications.
REQUIREMENTS
Certificate of Pharmacy Assistant
2 years working in a private clinic/hospital
