JOB VACANCIES NOTICE NUMBER 1 OF 2023
1. MANDATE OF APPOINTING OFFICERS OF PARLIAMENT
Section 154 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe stipulates that the Clerk of Parliament and other Staff
of Parliament are appointed on terms of conditions of service approved from, time to time, by the
Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) and are Public Officers, distinct and separate
from the Civil Service. These appointments are on an open, performance based contracts subject
to the provisions of the Officers of Parliament (Terms of Service) Regulations, 2018, as amended
from time to time.
Applications are, therefore, invited from suitably qualified and experienced Zimbabwean citizens
below the age of fifty (50), with a clean disciplinary / criminal record, to fill the following vacant
positions
Grade: 8
Location: Public Relations
Reports To: Director Public Relations
Job Description
Facilitates the recruitment of Office Assistants;
Reviews contracts of employment for Office Assistants as and when the need arises;
Ensures that the provisions of the contract of employment for Office Assistants are
adhered to by both parties;
Inducts Office Assistants;
Receives and attends to all communication and queries relating to PCICs;
Verifies appropriateness of PCIC Office sites and makes appropriate recommendations to
the Clerk;
Facilitates the processing of lease agreements between Parliament and landlords and
ensures that the rates for accommodation are cost-effective ;
Co-ordinates the payment of rentals, telephone and water bills for PCICs and ensures that
these are paid in time;
Institutes security measures to safeguard property of Parliament in liaison with the
Security department;
Liaises with the ICT Department for the installation and maintenance of ICT equipment
in PCICs;
Liaises with the Research Department for the installation of informatics database in
computers of PCICs;
Compiles and submits to Accounts Department a monthly schedule of Office Assistants
in functional PCICs for processing of allowances; and
Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Director Public
Relations.
Minimum Person Specification
Any Social Science Degree
A minimum of two years working experience
Excellent public relations skills
