Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience
- Artisan Painter Class 1 or 2
- At least 2 years experience as a painter
- Experience in a tertiary institution would be an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read blueprints/instructions and examine surfaces to determine the kind and amount of work necessary
- Generate BOQs
- Spread drop cloths over floors and room furnishings, and cover surfaces, such as door frames, and windows with masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting
- Make on-site preparations such as erecting scaffolding or setting up ladders to perform tasks above ground level
- Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint etc.
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material
- Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right color or texture
- Paint surfaces according to instructions with various tools
- Apply varnish and other finishes
- Take and adhere to all health and safety precautions
- Contributing to the success of the Central Services and Amenities Department by performing all other essential duties as assigned.
