Overhead Crane Operator : Tongaat Hulett

The following vacancy has arisen within the Tongaat Hulett Hippo Operations. To comply with the Company’s new governance framework, employees interested in this position are required to apply
Reports to Gantry Supervisor

Purpose of Role
To ensure cane bundles are offloaded from cane haulage vehicles and mee set crush targets

Key Responsibilities
Inspects the crane and reports defects to Gantry supervisor
Tests crane hooter, brakes and functionality of limit switches
Lift bundles from tractors, trucks and rail wagon
Communication with Chain Hands and other team members by using hooter
Decides where to position bundle on the feeder table and ensure consistent feeding is achieved
Correctly stacks cane bundles on Gantry bays
DE-Stacks bundles from bays following FIFO rules
Assists mechanical team in lifting heavy equipment at bays or in Mill house
Liaises with chain hands and ground cane tracker in positioning sample bundles
Adheres to SHE procedures and guidelines as given by management

Key Responsibilities
Basic Overhead crane operation course
5 years of experience working at Gantry area
Good communication skills
Ability to work under pressure
