Network Specialist

An exciting career opportunity has arisen within First Capital Bank for the role of Network Specialist. We are looking for an experienced individual who will be responsible for analysing, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting First Capital Bank Infrastructure, Application components and Third-party connections. The incumbent will ensure a robust operational network that enables business transactions and interconnectivity between entities meeting company and user satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement new network solutions to improve resilience of the current environment.
Provide structure and technical support for the IP Wide Area
Network (WAN) and third-party connections.
Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages;
Scheduling upgrades and network optimization.
Provide Level 1 and Level 2 support for complex telecommunication network including VoIP, QoS, SIP, IPsec, VPN, MPLS, and WAN technologies.
Ensure network availability in accordance with agreed Service Level Agreement.
Ensure that Group Technology Services standards are adhered to in both hardware and software.
Report network operational status by gathering, prioritising information, and managing projects.
Conduct IT Network Best Practise and Awareness Training.
Ensure all networking solutions meets industry standards.
Assist in the development of guidelines and procedures for network administration and best practices.
Provide technical recommendations to IT Management on
Networking Infrastructure and service advancement Knowledge of Security Solutions (Firewalls, VPN, IPSec, SSL, IPS/IDS, proxy servers, etc
Implement and maintain disaster recovery network infrastructure.
Participate in business continuity planning testing and evaluation.
Design, configure, and deploy network connections, hardware, software, and services while ensuring redundancy and reliability.
Research and liaise with network service providers on new technological products, upgrades, and quick resolution of network related issues.
Support and administration of VoIP related network infrastructure.
Participate in annual performance reviews.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum qualifications

BSc Information Technology/Information systems/ Telecommunications/Computer science/Engineering or equivalent
CISCO Certification (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent
Linux Network Administration
Training in Data communication principles
TCP/IP Protocol

Experience and Competency required:

Good theoretical knowledge and practical experience of computer networking (LAN, WAN, IP, TCP/IP, VOIP).
Hands-on experience with firewalls, routers, switches and gateway devices, appliances, and software. Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices.
Knowledge and understanding of static and dynamic routing protocols (BGP, MPLS, EIGRP, OSFP).
Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits
Good reasoning and decision-making skills.
Strong problem solving, analytical and time management skills
