Background
A Bindura based private educational institution invites applications from suitably qualified, mature, and dedicated individuals for the position of Matron. The Matron will be responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of students through effective management of catering services, health and hygiene, basic counselling, and general welfare. A strong practical background in culinary arts is essential for this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage student catering operations, including planning nutritious menus, supervising meal preparation, and ensuring hygiene standards are upheld.
- Lead and actively participate in hands-on food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Oversee student health and wellbeing, including basic first aid and referrals for medical treatment.
- Provide counselling support to students, fostering a safe residential environment.
- Supervise and coordinate support staff (kitchen, hostel, and welfare teams) to ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Manage welfare and catering budgets efficiently, including procurement and stock control.
- Monitor and enforce cleanliness, safety, discipline and order in student hostels and common areas.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management or equivalent.
- At least 5 years practical experience in large-scale food preparation or institutional catering.
- Experience in student welfare, counselling, or residential support roles is a distinct advantage.
- Proven skills in staff supervision and budget management.
