ZB Financial Holdings, a leading financial services provider in Zimbabwe is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Market & Operational Risk Officer to join the Group Risk Management team.

What The Role Entails

The Market & Operational Risk Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective implementation of risk policies and mitigating solutions across the ZB Financial Holdings Group. This role involves evaluating and assessing business risks associated with market and operational processes, and providing practical solutions to support business objectives and strategic initiatives.

Key Deliverables

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive market and operational risk policies that guide business operations across the Group.
  • Review and develop market and operational risk management models, policies, and procedures to enhance risk identification and mitigation.
  • Develop and implement tools and techniques to accurately determine creditworthiness and risk profiles for counterparties.
  • Proactively identify, measure, monitor, control, and report on market and operational risks across all entities within the Group.
  • Analyse trends of factors that impact the Group’s asset and liability management, providing insightful recommendations.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to management committees on critical market and operational risk issues.
  • Coordinate the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) processes across the Group, ensuring effective risk oversight.
  • Lead and manage the Credit Rating processes for various business units within the Group.
  • Conduct thorough research and gather comparator intelligence data to stay abreast of evolving market trends and best practices.
  • Provide robust research and analytical support on a wide range of market and operational risk matters.
  • Coordinate the Business Continuity Planning and Risk Self-Assessment processes for all units and departments within the Group.
  • Effectively communicate changes in risk policies and processes to relevant teams and work streams across the Group.
  • Recommend and support the implementation of effective risk management solutions, including business continuity plans, recovery measures, and security protocols.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of a Quantitative Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Data Analytics, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Professional certification in Risk Management and active membership with a recognized Risk Management body is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in risk management within the financial services sector.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a managerial role with demonstrable leadership capabilities.

Competencies Required

  • Proficiency in risk management, assessment, business model and industry related controls.
  • Solid financial analysis skills (ratio analysis, periodic market patterns).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of developing models, (mathematical & statistical).
  • Good communication skills to guide, collaborate, advise group work streams.
  • Effective leadership skills with ability to work diverse group.
  • Ability to provide sound, clear, concise, and practical advice.
  • Good understanding of the prevailing social, political and economic environment and market trends.
  • Ability to assess impact on group risk policies and procedures.
