Manager – Protocol

MANAGER, PROTOCOL
Reports to: The Vice Chancellor

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the planning, coordination and execution of high-profile university events, ceremonies and official
    engagements.
  • Ensuring adherence to protocol guidelines during university
    functions and maintaining diplomatic decorum.
  • Managing travel logistics, including visa arrangements,
    accommodations and transport for university officials and
    international guests.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with Government
    offices, diplomatic representatives and key stakeholders.
  • Advising university leadership and staff on protocol matters,
    including etiquette for formal engagements.
  • Facilitating collaborations with international institutions and
    overseeing official signing ceremonies.
  • Monitoring developments in international protocol standards
    to ensure best practices.
  • Supporting knowledge dissemination through workshops
    on protocol, diplomatic procedures and event management.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure the
    successful hosting of dignitaries and international
    delegations.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in International Relations/ Public
    Administration/Political Science/ Communications/ Public
    Relations or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in protocol management,
    diplomatic engagements, or event coordination at a senior
    level.
  • Strong understanding of protocol procedures, diplomatic
    etiquette and international engagement strategies.
  • Experience coordinating high-prole events and managing
    official engagements.
  • Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills with a
    high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining
    attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in one or more foreign languages will be an
    added advantage.
