Role Summary
Under the direction of the Logistics Coordinator and in collaboration with the logistics team, the Logistics
Assistant is responsible for supporting the procurement and logistics needs of the HALO Zimbabwe program.
The Logistics Assistant will work closely with the coordinator and field-based logisticians to ensure the program is properly equipped and able to respond to requests from the field to support demining operations. The Logistics Assistant may also be required to drive vehicles when necessary. As a HALO employee, the job holder is expected to maintain a high standard of work and collaborate effectively with others.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Logistics Coordinator in managing procurement requests, inquiries, and processes.
• Helping to ensure all procurement is properly documented and compliant with HALO’s Global
Operating Systems.
• Supporting collaboration with local and international suppliers to source quotes, process purchase
orders, and follow up on any after-sales requirements.
• Assisting in regularly monitoring the Harare market to identify changes in the best prices and quality
of the goods being procured. Maintain communication with suppliers to guarantee timely delivery of
supplies.
• Assisting in enhancing procurement processes by identifying established suppliers and setting up
preferred supplier arrangements.
• Support the Logistics Coordinator in preparing monthly procurement progress reports for
management meetings.
• Assist in developing and tracking of the annual procurement plan for the Zimbabwe program.
• Support the Logistics Coordinator in conducting regular inventory audits and reconciliations to
maintain accurate stock levels across the organization’s warehouses and storage facilities.
• Assist in identifying any discrepancies or irregularities during the procurement and inventory review
process.
• This role may require visits to field sites, potentially including overnight stays. Tented accommodation
will be provided.
• Ensure data entry of vehicle log sheets and fuel consumption are well captured.
• Any other procurement duties as may be assigned by the Logistics coordinator.
Qualifications, Experience and Key attributes
• 1 year experience working in logistics/or demonstrated experience working in procurement and
compliance.
• Diploma in Logistics and Supply chain, Accounts, Procurement or related field
• Valid driver’s license
• Excellent written and spoken English
• Strong command of Microsoft office 365 products, with an emphasis on excel
