Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology
Applicants must hold a minimum qualification of a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry OR
Biomedical Sciences OR Life Sciences with significant biochemistry content plus a Master of Science
OR Master of Medicine degree in Biochemistry. A PhD qualification in Biochemistry, as well as a
proven teaching or research background would be added advantages.
2. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (6 POSTS)
Department of Anatomy and Physiology
POST A: PHYSIOLOGY (3 POSTS)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physiology OR Biomedical Sciences OR Life Sciences
with significant physiology content OR Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees OR Equivalent
plus a Master of Science OR Master of Medicine degree in Physiology OR Biomedical Sciences OR a
specialist qualification such as MRCP or similar. A PhD qualification in Physiology, as well as a
proven teaching or research background would be added advantages.
POST B: ANATOMY (3 POSTS)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Anatomy OR Biomedical sciences OR Life
Sciences with significant Human anatomy or histology content OR Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine
degrees OR equivalent plus a Master of Science OR Master of Medicine in Anatomy (Gross
Anatomy, Developmental Anatomy or Histology) OR Histopathology OR a specialist qualification
such as MRCS or similar. A PhD qualification in Anatomy or Histology, as well as a proven teaching
or research background would be added advantages.
3. LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (12
POSTS)
Department of Pathology
POST A: MOLECULAR AND CELLUAR BIOLOGY (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry OR Biomedical Sciences OR Life Sciences
with significant Molecular and Cellular Biology content plus a relevant Master of Science OR Master
of Medicine degree. A PhD qualification, as well as a proven teaching or research background would
be added advantages.
POST B: GENOMICS (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics OR Biomedical Sciences OR Life Sciences
with significant Genetics and genomic technologies content OR Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine
degrees OR equivalent. A Master of Science OR Master of Medicine degree in Genetics OR
Pharmacogenomics or similar. A PhD qualification, as well as a proven teaching or research
background would be added advantages.
The successful candidate must be able to teach topics in Human genomics, genetic variation and
genetic disorders, precision medicine, pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics, genomic
technologies and diagnostic tests.
POST C: HISTOLOGY (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Anatomy OR Biomedical sciences OR Life Sciences with significant histology content OR Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees OR
equivalent plus a Master of Science OR Master of Medicine in Anatomy/Histology OR
Histopathology OR FCPath, FRCP, FRCS, FFR, FCR, FCOSECSA or FRCOG. A PhD qualification
in Anatomy or Histology, as well as a proven teaching or research background would be added
advantages.
POST D: COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY AND BIOINFORMATICS (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences,
Mathematics, Computer science, or a related subject plus a Master of Science in Bioinformatics,
Computational Biology, or a related field. A PhD qualification, as well as a proven teaching or
research background would be added advantages.
POST E: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, TECHNOPRENEURSHIP AND BIOMEDICAL
INNOVATION (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences OR Health Sciences OR Physical Sciences
OR Engineering Sciences plus a relevant Master of Science OR Master of Commerce OR Masters in
Business Administration with significant Business development, Entrepreneurship and Innovation
content and/or applied biomedical research allied to health, diagnostics and novel healthcare
technologies such as smart technologies, point of care testing, biosensors and nanotechnology. A PhD
qualification, as well as industry experience and a proven teaching or research background would be
added advantages.
POST F: IMMUNOLOGY (2 POSTS)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Immunology OR Biomedical sciences OR Life
Sciences with significant immunology content OR Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees OR
equivalent plus a Master of Science OR Master of Medicine in Immunology OR FRC Path or
equivalent qualifications. A PhD qualification in Immunology, as well as a proven teaching or
research background would be added advantages.
POST G: HAEMATOLOGY AND BLOOD TRANSFUSION SCIENCE (2 POSTS)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees OR a Bachelor of Health Sciences
in Medical Laboratory Science OR Biomedical sciences OR equivalent plus a Master of Science OR
Master of Medicine in Haematology OR Blood Transfusion Science or FRC Path or equivalent
qualifications. A PhD qualification in Haematology or Blood Transfusion Science, as well as a
proven teaching or research background would be added advantages. Candidates should be registered
or registrable with the Health Professions Authority through their relevant councils.
POST H: HISTOPATHOLOGY (2 POSTS)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees OR a Bachelor of Health Sciences
in Medical Laboratory Science OR Biomedical sciences OR equivalent plus a Master of Science OR
Master of Medicine in Histopathology (Anatomic OR cytopathology OR forensic pathology) OR FRC
Path OR equivalent qualifications. A PhD qualification, as well as a proven teaching or research
background would be added advantages. Candidates should be registered or registrable with the
Health Professions Authority through their relevant councils.
POST I: CHEMICAL PATHOLOGY (1 POST)
Applicants must hold a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Laboratory Science OR Biomedical
sciences OR Bachelor of Surgery and Medicine degrees OR equivalent plus a Master of Science OR
Master of Medicine in Chemical pathology or FRC Path or equivalent qualifications. A PhD
qualification, as well as a proven teaching or research background would be added advantages.
Candidates should be registered or registrable with the Health Professions Authority through their
relevant councils.
