LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (5 POSTS)
Department of Applied Biology and Biochemistry

POST A: MICROBIOLOGY (1 POST)

Applicants should be holders of a BSc (Honours), B Tech (Honours) in Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Biological Sciences with relevant content for the post and an MSc/MPhil in Microbiology/Applied Microbiology/Biotechnology. The candidate should have at least 2 year’s work experience in an institution of higher education or a research institution. Experience in the assessment of students and supervision of research projects in area of specialisation as well as curriculum development will be an added advantage. A PhD or a registration for a PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage. The candidate will be expected to be involved in teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of General Microbiology, Food Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology and Medical Microbiology. Supervision of research projects in the area of specialisation will be expected.

POST B: BIOCHEMISTRY (1 POST)

Applicants should be holders of BSc (Honours) or B Tech (Honours) in Biochemistry with relevant content for the post and an MSc/MPhil in Biochemistry. The candidate should have at least 2 year’s work experience in an institution of higher education or a research institution. Experience in the assessment of students and supervision of research projects in area of specialisation as well as curriculum development will be an added advantage. A PhD or a registration for a PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage. The candidate will be expected to be involved in teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of Analytical Biochemistry, Chemistry of Biomolecules, Principles of Enzymology and Immunology, Metabolic Processes I and II and Advanced Biochemistry and Molecular Physiology. Supervision of research projects in the area of specialisation will be expected.

POST C: VIROLOGY/IMMUNOLOGY (1 POST)

Applicants should be holders of BSc (Honours) or B Tech (Honours) in Biochemistry/Biotechnology with relevant content for the post and an MSc/MPhil in Virology/Immunology. The candidate should have at least 2 year’s work experience in an institution of higher education or a research institution. Experience in the assessment of students and supervision of research projects in area of specialisation as well as curriculum development will be an added advantage. A PhD or a registration for a PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage. The candidate will be expected to be involved in teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of Virology, Medical Microbiology and Immunology. Supervision of research projects in the area of specialisation will be expected.

POST D: FOOD SCIENCE (1 POST)

Applicants should be holders of BSc (Honours) or B Tech (Honours) in Food Science with relevant content for the post and an MSc/MPhil in Food Science/ Microbiology/Biological Sciences. The candidate should have at least 2 year’s work experience in an institution of higher education or a research institution. Experience in the assessment of students and supervision of research projects in area of specialisation as well as curriculum development will be an added advantage. A PhD or a registration for a PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage. The candidate will be expected to be involved in teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of Principles of Fermentation Technology, Food Microbiology, Food Technology I and Food Technology, Industrial Biotechnology and Advanced Microbiology. Supervision of research projects in the area of specialisation will be expected.

POST E: BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES/APPLIED BIOLOGY (1 POST)

Applicants should be holders of BSc Honours or BTech Honours in Biological Sciences/Applied Biology with relevant content for the post and MSc/MPhil in Biological Sciences/Applied Biology. The candidate should have at least 2 years work experience in an institution of higher education or a research institution. Experience in the assessment of students and supervision of research projects in area of specialisation as well as curriculum development will be an added advantage. A PhD in Biological Sciences or a registration for a PhD in the relevant field will be an added advantage. The candidate will be expected to be involved in teaching and practical training of undergraduate and postgraduate students in areas of Animal Physiology, Cell Biology, Environmental Science and Genetics, Supervision of research projects in the area of specialisation will be expected.
