LECTURESHIP/SENIOR LECTURESHIP/ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (8 POSTS): Department of Applied Physics || National University of Science and Technology (NUST)

POST A: Medical Physics (1 Post)

The applicant must at least be studying toward their PhD in Medical Physics and should have a BSc in
Applied Physics or equivalent. A PhD in Medical Physics will be a distinct advantage. In addition,
evidence of clinical practice in a nuclear medicine or radiotherapy department in an accredited
medical facility will be a distinct advantage. Proof of active research in the form of published papers,
at least two years teaching experience and registration with a Health professional board will be a
definite advantage. The applicant must submit a Teaching and Research Statement.
The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with physics taught at undergraduate level and
shall be expected to teach any of the modules offered in the BSc (Hons) in Applied Physics
programme and in the MSc Medical Physics programme. Further, the applicant shall be expected to
participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars. i.e. teaching, research, university service and community
engagement, industrialisation and innovation. Furthermore, the successful candidate is expected to
attract funding for research and foster collaborative research within the Department, Faculty,
University and with other Institutions.

POST B: Earth Sciences (4 Posts)

The applicant must at least hold an M.Sc./M.Phil. qualification or equivalent in either of the
following: Earth Science, Geophysics, Geology and Hydrogeology. A PhD will be a clear advantage.
An applicant without a PhD will be expected to register for studies leading to a PhD qualification.
Proof of active research in the form of published journal articles and at least two years teaching
experience will be a definite advantage. The applicant must submit a Teaching and Research
Statement.
The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with the basic Physics/Earth Sciences taught at
undergraduate level. Further, the applicant shall be expected to teach the undergraduate modules in
addition to the courses in M.Sc. Geophysics programme. Furthermore, the successful candidate shall
participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that require them to actively be engaged in meaningful
research that leads to development and economic sustainability. In doing so, the successful candidate
shall be expected to attract funding for research and foster collaborative research with the Department,
Faculty and University and other institutions.

POST C: Applied Physics (3 Posts)

The applicant must at least hold an M.Sc./M.Phil. qualification or equivalent in Physics. Applicants
with major research interest in Astronomy and Astrophysics, Material Science, Solid State Physics,
Applied Physics and Lasers Physics, and Optics will have a clear advantage. An applicant without a
PhD degree will be expected to register for studies leading to a PhD qualification. Proof of active
research in the form of published journal articles and at least two years teaching experience will be a
definite advantage. The applicant must submit a Teaching and Research Statement.
The successful candidate is expected to be conversant with the basic physics taught at undergraduate
level. Further, the successful applicant shall be expected to teach undergraduate modules in addition
to the modules in the M.Sc. Lasers and Applied Optics programme. Furthermore, the successful
candidate shall participate in all the Education 5.0 pillars that require them to actively be engaged in
meaningful research that leads to development and economic sustainability. In doing so, the
successful candidate shall be expected to attract funding for research and foster collaborative research
within the Department, Faculty, University and with other Institutions.
