The duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Professor are grouped into 5 main categories which are:
(a) Teaching – the incumbent is expected to teach or deliver lectures in accordance with the Department and or Faculty guidelines and standards.
(b) University Service – the incumbent should participate in all Department, Faculty and University activities such as attending meetings, training workshops, conferences and seminars, among others.
(c) Research – the incumbent is expected to engage in active research in his/her area of specialization which benefits both the students and the University.

(c) Innovations – leading to tangible products and services.
(e) Industrialization –through commercialization of products.
FACULTY OF MEDICINE
1. Department of Anatomy
Post: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (1 post)
Qualifications
· First Degree in Human Anatomy/ Medicine
· Masters degree in Anatomy
· PhD in Human Anatomy would be an added advantage
Duties & Responsibilities
The candidate should be proficient in teaching Human Anatomy to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students. Proficiency in at least two (2) of the following disciplines:
· Gross anatomy
· Histology
· Embryology
2. Department of Physiology
Post: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (1 post)
Qualifications
· First degree in Medicine
· Masters in Physiology
· PhD will be an added advantage
Duties & Responsibilities
The candidate should be proficient in teaching Physiology to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students. Experience in having taught Physiology to Medical Students will be an added advantage.
3. Department of Pathology (Histopathology)
Post: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (4 posts)
Qualifications
· First degree in Medicine (2 posts) or Medical Laboratory Sciences (2 posts)
· Specialist Master of Medicine (MMed) degree or equivalent in Histopathology (2 posts) or a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Histopathology/Cytology (2 posts)
· Eligible to register with the MDPCZ as a Specialist Histopathologist if a medical Doctor (2 posts) or eligible to register as a Clinical Scientist with the MLCSCZ (2 posts).
Duties & Responsibilities
The candidate should be proficient in teaching Histopathology to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students. Proficiency in teaching at least two (2) of the following disciplines:
· Anatomical Pathology
· Cytopathology
· Forensic Pathology
The candidate will be expected to take on clinical duties at the Teaching Hospital.
4. Department of Pathology (Haematology)
Post: Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor (5 posts)
Qualifications
· First degree in Medicine (3 posts) or Medical Laboratory Sciences (2 posts)
· Specialist Master of Medicine (MMed) degree or equivalent in Haematology (3 posts) or a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Haematology (2 posts)
· Eligible to register with the MDPCZ as a Specialist Clinical Haematologist if a medical Doctor (2 posts) or eligible to register as a Clinical Scientist with the MLCSCZ (2 posts).
Duties & Responsibilities
The candidate should be proficient in teaching Haematology to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students.
The candidate will be expected to take on clinical duties at the Teaching Hospital.
5. Department of Pathology (Medical Microbiology)

· First degree in Medical Microbiology/ Medicine
· Masters degree in Microbiology

The candidate should be proficient in teaching Medical Microbiology to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students. Proficiency in teaching at least two (2) of the following disciplines:
· Bacteriology
· Virology
· Mycology
· Parasitology
6. Department of Pathology (Clinical Biochemistry/ Chemical Pathology)

Qualifications
· First degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Biochemistry or related discipline

The candidate should be proficient in teaching Chemical Pathology to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students.
7. Department of Pathology (Immunology)

8. Department of Clinical Pharmacology

· First degree in a health related field such as Medicine or Pharmacy
· Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacology

· Eligible to register with one of the relevant health professions councils

The candidate should be proficient in teaching Clinical Pharmacology to undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Students. Proficiency in teaching the following two (2) disciplines:
· Basic Pharmacology

Qualifications
· First degree in Medicine
