Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to provide academic leadership to the
Department; initiate, guide and contribute to basic and applied research programmes
in the Department and teach the following courses at Undergraduate and Postgraduate
level: Public policy and Development, Environmental Change and Development, Gender
and Development in Africa. In addition, the candidate will be expected to coordinate
and participate in the supervision of Undergraduate and Postgraduate research
students and be active in research grant proposal writing, community engagement,
innovation and industrialisation.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have an earned PhD in Policy and Development Studies or any related
field; or should be a registered PhD student and have attained a Master’s Degree in
Policy and Development Studies (or its equivalency) with a Merit or better. A good
foundation degree in Development Sciences (or any related field) is a must. University
teaching experience is a distinct advantage.
