Job Summary

Responsible for washing plates, pots, and pans, keeping floors clean, sanitising food preparation areas, and occasionally helping with food preparation work.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Washing up of pots, pans, plates, cutlery, and other cooking utensils
  • Daily cleaning of kitchen walls, floors, windows, drainage, equipment, and weekly or monthly routine deep cleaning as required and cleaning up any mops or spills as they occur
  • Maintaining a 3-bucket system and routinely sanitizing the kitchen preparation areas and equipment
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly scullery area by continuously washing and clearing dirty dishes.
  • Assisting with basic food preparation, washing and cutting of vegetables and cutting up of meats
  • Handle the allocation of staff amenities for teas and maintain stocks for management kitchenette
  • Setting up for food service by ensuring plates cutlery and warmers are washed and sanitized for service
  • Setup for staff meals is filling up and switching on the bain marie and placing condiments and containers for dirty plates and leftover scraps outside
  • Assist in the plating and wrapping of food
  • Deliver the food to the wards using the warmers and food trolley
  • Assist in the serving of food for hospital staff and update appropriate per work
  • Cleaning and maintaining order in the food storage areas that is the main and mini storeroom the deep freezers and the upright fridge
  • Keeping stock of and collecting kitchen plate cutlery and any equipment from other departments
  • Receiving and organizing equipment and food deliveries in a timely and orderly manner
  • Daily emptying and cleaning of bins and bin areas maintaining regulated waste segregation rules and maintaining cleaning materials in an orderly manner
  • Follow all the health and safety requirements of the hospital kitchen
  • Recording food wastage, cleaning material usage, and staff tea allocations
  • and any other assigned paperwork.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Certificate in Food Safety.
  • 1-year experience working in a Health institution.
