1. MANDATE OF APPOINTING OFFICERS OF PARLIAMENT
Section 154 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe stipulates that the Clerk of Parliament and other Staff
of Parliament are appointed on terms of conditions of service approved from, time to time, by the
Committee on Standing Rules and Orders (CSRO) and are Public Officers, distinct and separate
from the Civil Service. These appointments are on an open, performance based contracts subject
to the provisions of the Officers of Parliament (Terms of Service) Regulations, 2018, as amended
from time to time.
Applications are, therefore, invited from suitably qualified and experienced Zimbabwean citizens
below the age of fifty (50), with a clean disciplinary / criminal record, to fill the following vacant
positions
Grade: 8
Reports To: Director –Public Relations
Location: Directorate of External and Public Affairs
Job Description
Interprets simultaneously and accurately vernacular languages spoken on the floor of the
House;
Produces education materials on Parliament for schools, civil society and the general
public;
Translates Parliamentary fact-sheets and other documents into vernacular languages;
Develops parliamentary terminology in conjunction with the relevant stakeholders;
Assists in conducting public hearings and educational outreach programmes; and
Any other duties as delegated by the Director Public Relations.
Minimum Person Specification
A degree in languages i.e. Shona and English
A post-graduate qualification in Education/or Public Relations is an added advantage
A minimum of 2 years relevant working experience
Working knowledge of other local languages is an added advantage
Computer literacy
