Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Internationalisation Officer is a critical position primarily responsible for driving the successful expansion of the University into international markets by ensuring effective planning, execution and management of internationalization initiatives. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as International Relations, Education or related disciplines;
  • A higher degree or relevant certifications would be added advantages;
  • Knowledge of higher education systems and familiarity with the higher education landscape in Southern Africa, including understanding the policies, regulations and trends related to internationalization in the region;
  • Proficiency in English is required, and proficiency in additional languages would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Immigration and Visa regulations would also be added advantages.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing internationalization strategies to internationalize the University including increasing the number of international students, fostering international research collaborations, and promoting study abroad programs;
  • Recruiting international students by participating in education fairs, conducting information sessions and coordinating the admission process;
  • Providing support services to international students, including orientation programs and advising on immigration and visa-related matters;
  • Establishing and maintaining partnerships with international Universities and organizations to facilitate faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects and other collaborative initiatives;
  • Collaborating with Faculty members and academic departments to develop internationally-focused curriculum and programs that integrate global perspectives into the teaching and learning environment;
  • Promoting cross-cultural understanding and integration by organizing cultural events, workshops and activities that celebrate diversity and foster intercultural dialogue on campus;
  • Contributing to the development of policies and procedures related to internationalization efforts, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards;
  • Analyzing market trends, competition, and customer preferences in different regions to identify target markets;
  • Ensuring that the University adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements when expanding into international markets;
  • Monitoring and analyzing the performance of international operations, so as to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies and identify areas for improvement;
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Registrar.

    Desirable Skills and Attributes

  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency in project management techniques to plan, implement and evaluate internationalization initiatives effectively;
  • Networking and relationship building for developing collaborations and promoting the University’s international profile.
