POST:  INTERNATIONAL AND ALUMNI RELATIONS MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY 

Reporting to the Executive Dean of Student Affairs, the International and Alumni Relations Manager will be responsible for overseeing activities and programmes of the MSU international and alumni community.  The incumbent should possess a sound understanding of strategies and processes for recruitment of international students and resource mobilisation activities in collaboration with MSU Alumni.  The post requires a person who is passionate about fostering international connection and building lifelong relationships.  The ideal candidate should be well versed and passionate about internationalisation in higher education.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • A good first degree in Social Sciences preferably in International Relations or Political Science or Public Administration
  • A holder of a relevant master’s degree
  • Possession of a PhD degree will be an added advantage
  • At least 3 years proven working experience in international relations, alumni engagement or related roles
  • Knowledge of immigration processes will be an added advantage

  • Ability to spearhead and mobilise partnerships with the MSU Alumni community.
  • Ability to work with an internationally diverse student and staff population and always demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
  • Techno-savvy person with experience in using digital platforms for communication and engagement
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong working relationships

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment of international students through use of current and former students as brand ambassadors, recruitment agents, Embassies, international recruitment drives, fairs/expos, international conferences/events and official MSU social media platforms.
  • Providing a channel for international communication and interactions between MSU and international partners through development of international MOUs and MOAs across the University’s departments and faculties.
  • Spearhead efforts to give the University international students a positive and memorable experience of MSU and Zimbabwe at large through tourism activities, cultural and linguistic immersion activities, trips, welcome and farewell ceremonies, independence celebrations, carnivals and cultural exhibitions.
  • Coordinating all the immigration, admission and registration processes of international students as guided by the International Student Admissions and International Student Recruitment Policies.
  • Spearheading and mobilising partnerships with the MSU Alumni community and coordinating Alumni programmes such as MSU Alumni Business Expos.
  • Monitoring the MSU Alumni database and maintaining the list of MSU Alumni subscriptions.
  • Evaluating the development and implementation of MOUs, MOAs, collaborations and partnerships with international stakeholders.  Ensuring that staff and students get opportunities for international exposure through  exchange programmes and internationalisation workshops.
  • Building rapport and strong relationships with the Alumni stakeholders through Alumni’s participation and involvement in most of MSU activities and events.
  • Maintaining a detailed and up-to-date international student database from initial registration to final departure.
  • Ensuring efficient running of the MSU International Student Bridging Programme each semester through monitoring of Intensive English programmes, English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
  • Sourcing international scholarship funding for international students, including refugees.
  • Servicing of the International and Alumni Relations Committee, determining the need for changes in procedures, techniques and methods within the Department, the University at large and submitting recommendations to management.
  • Engaging in research and identifying opportunities for collaboration with international institutions.
  • Performing any other relevant duties as assigned.
