INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH OFFICER (1 POST)
The Institutional Research Officer’s portfolio focuses on client service through internal research and
investigations, processing information on defined university systems and functions such as policies
and procedures, student enrolments, progression, completion, welfare, work placements, alumni
involvement, university performance and ranking, among others. He/she should be competent at
qualitative and quantitative research techniques, analysis, problem-solving, database development and
management, and personnel information evaluation and reporting. Computer literacy and proficiency
with current data processing software is a must.
The position requires a minimum of an honours bachelor’s degree in any one of the following or
related areas: statistics, social and management sciences, and educational administration. Essentially,
the degree must clearly have a substantial component of statistics and research methods. Further, the
candidate must have at least 3 years’ working experience in an environment and in a capacity for
making substantial use of investigations, research and statistics, empirical and evidence-based
problem-solving. Possession of an aligned master’s degree and any other relevant qualifications and
experience in higher education will be a distinct advantage.
