The University of Zimbabwe is inviting suitably qualified and experienced individuals to apply for the following positions that have arisen in the Directorate for Research Innovation and Industrialisation,
POSITION 1: INNOVATION LEADS (14 POSTS)
Reports to the Innovation Hub Manager and Research Specialists.
Working with the University Innovation Hub Students, Interns, Academics and Research and Development Partners from Industry. Commerce and Communities, the Innovation Leads will lead in the provision of technical expertise towards the production of goods and services in line with the Government’s Heritage-based Education 5.0 philosophy. They should be able to work in a multi-and/or inter-disciplinary field and exhibit versatility in their understanding of development of holistic solutions.
Positions available include the following:
a. Innovation Lead, Scientific Applications and Technological Advancement (2 Posts)
b. Innovation Lead, MedTech and Health Solutions (2 Posts)
C. Innovation Lead, Food Systems and Agricultural Technologies (2 Posts)
d. Innovation Lead, Engineering and Manufacturing (3 Posts)
e. Innovation Lead, Humanities and Creative Arts (1 Post)
1. Innovation Lead, Transformative Education and Social Innovations (2 Posts)
g. Innovation Lead, Information Communication Technologies and Computer Engineering (1 Post)
h. Systems Design Analysis and Modelling (1 Post)
Specifically, the ideal candidate will be responsible for, among other duties:
1. Providing technical expertise, capturing and protecting innovations arising from the University’s Research-Innovation-Industrialisation Ecosystem towards product development and prototyping.
2. Overseeing the management of the innovation processes and systems within their specific areas of expertise.
3. Providing leadership and technological support in ideation, design thinking and actualisation of novel research and innovation products.
4. Taking the lead in intellectual property (IP) development, protection and commercialisation.
5. Conducting related duties as may be assigned by the Innovation Hub Manager and/or Research Specialists.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have:
1. A minimum of a Masters Degree or equivalent in the relevant area from an accredited institution.
ii. Experience with interacting with students and/or teaching and learning, and research processes at university level.
iii. A demonstrated experience in product development.
iv. Proven track record in multidisciplinary research, collaboration and/or management of partnerships.
